In Luke 12: 22-34 Jesus is teaching His disciples about material things which often cause anxiety in our lives (vs 22).  He tells them not to be like the nations of the world who are troubled over these things. He assures them that the Father in heaven knows our needs (vs 30) and that they will be added to us if we seek His rule in our lives (vs 31).  The Savior then comforts them by saying in verse 32 “Fear not little flock for it is the Fathers good pleasure (official approval, willingness) to give you the kingdom”.

Though we as disciples are small in number, when we seek the rule of God in our lives, the Father takes care of us and officially acts willingly and with pleasure to give us the Kingdom (the Church).  God wants us to be saved (2 Pet 3:9; 1 Tim 2:3-4, Mark 16:15-16) and if we seek Him in obedience the Lord adds us to His kingdom (Acts 2:37- 47).  Nothing can separate us from His love (Rom 8:38-39).

Based upon this truth our attitude should be that we will put nothing ahead of our life in Christ.  Material things should not be our focus.  We should be generous and compassionate recognizing that “where our treasure is there our hearts will be also” (vs 33-34).
