In Acts 20:23-24 the Apostle Paul indicates by inspiration, that it has been revealed unto him “that bonds and afflictions” will abide with him throughout the remainder of his life. He then records in verse 24, “But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself” so that he could finish the work that the Lord had given him. Paul put the work of the Lord first even when it was to his harm or disadvantage.
In 2 Cor. 5:1-9, when speaking of death, Paul indicates that there is a strong desire to leave this life and be clothed with immortality. He records “We are confident I say, and willing rather to be absent from this body and to be present with the Lord (vs. 8). But then Paul records the summary attitude that we all must have; “Wherefore we labor that whether present or absent, we may be accepted (well pleasing) of Him” (vs. 9).
How do we view this life and the Lord’s work? Do we cling to the physical or do we seek to be accepted of Him? Let’s remember the Lord in all that we do!
