Psalms 84 is an inspired description of three broad elements of a faithful life.  The text expresses a determination to worship (vs. 1-4), dependence on Gods strength (vs. 5-8) and an abiding trust in God (vs. 9-12).  After describing a journey through the valley of Baca (weeping, vs. 6) where the trials experienced lead to strength (vs. 7) it is then recorded “O LORD God of hosts (armies, mighty), hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah (vs. 8).  The psalmist with an attitude of commitment, respect, persistence and obedience pleads for God to hear his prayer.

As Christians we are instructed to pray (1 Thess. 5:17) and promised help in time of need (Heb. 4:15-16). We are invited to “cast our care upon Him…” (1 Peter 5:7) and that our trials will produce benefit and strength (1 Peter 5:10; Jas. 1: 2-4).

We walk as one when we obey the gospel and commit ourselves to the service of God. We hear His word thereby creating faith and obedience and He hears our prayers meeting our every need (Acts 17: 27- 28).  We give our ear to God and He gives His ear to us. A beautiful relationship to contemplate and enjoy.

Keep the Faith.
