In John 16:24-27, Jesus speaking to His apostles concerning prayer and their needs says; “For the Father Himself loveth you because ye have loved me and have believed that I came from God”. This passage describes at least in part the oneness that we have with God in Christ.  We know that this same oneness applies to us today because, later in John 17:20-21 Jesus prays that those who believe on Him may all be one in Him. So the message from these passages is that if we love Christ and believe that he came from God then God will love us.

Our love for Christ is understood in the context of earlier passages in John 14:15; 23 where Jesus said; “If ye love me keep my commandments” (vs. 15) and “If a man love me, he will keep my words and my Father will love him and we will come unto him and make our abode with him” (vs. 23; See Eph. 3:17). Salvation is found only in Christ Jesus (Acts 4:10-12).

Let us all take comfort in the absolute truth that as obedient baptized believers Almighty God cares for us and looks down on us in love.  What a blessing!
