In the context of Ephesians chapter 2, we as gentiles are described as in times past being without Christ, having no hope and without God in the world (vs. 12).  Verse 13 explains that now in Christ Jesus (who was put on in baptism [Gal. 3:27-29}) we who were afar off were made nigh by His blood (vs. 13), “For He is our peace” (vs. 14).

Yes, brethren the cross of Jesus made it possible for all mankind to be reconciled (back to a former state of harmony) unto God, in one body.  For though we were wicked, by the sacrifice of Jesus and an obedient faith, we may be found holy and unblamable in His sight (Col. 1:21).  We may have peace with the Father.

Though Jesus has made peace with God possible, we as Christians must be certain to do our part.  We do this by continuing in the faith, grounded and settled, not moved away from the hope of the gospel (Col 1:23). We must be steadfast, unmovable always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as we know that our labor is not in vain in the Lord (1 Cor. 15:58).

God has promised peace.   Let’s count on it!
