Webster defines courage as the mental or moral strength to venture. persevere and withstand danger fear or difficulty.  Through-out the Scripture there is evidence of God helping us to be strong and courageous.

In Psalm 138:1-3, the Scripture records David’s appreciation and praise to God saying “in the day when I cried thou answered me, and strengthened me with strength in my soul.”  This type of strength is also identified in 1 Peter 5:10, “stablish, strengthen and settle you.” We receive courage and strength from God (Psalm 27:14), others (Rom. 14:19, 15:2) and from our own inner determination through command from and reliance upon God (Eph. 6:10, 1 Cor. 16:13). What a great blessing!

The Bible teaches us how courage manifests itself in the accounts of Joshua and Caleb (Num. Ch. 13 and 14); David and Goliath (1 Sam. 17) and Peter and John (Acts Ch. 3 and 4).  Generally speaking spiritual courage may be summed up in the instruction to Joshua that he turn not to the right or to the left of the word of God (Josh. Ch. 1).

Do we have the spiritual courage to do what is right in the eyes of God? Let us praise God for the courage that we receive from Him through prayer, our brethren and His word.

Keep the Faith.
