Before Christ came to the earth, he “thought it not robbery to be equal with God” (Phil 2:8). He came to earth with the mission to save mankind (Luke 19:10) and to establish the way to eternal life (John 14:6). Jesus accomplished all of the work that God gave Him to do (John 17:4).
Following his resurrection Jesus gave what is often referred to as the great commission to his apostles saying: “All power (authority) is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost” (Matt 28:18-19). Jesus, now seated at the right hand of God, has all things under His feet (Eph. 1:20-23) except the Father Himself (1 Cor. 15:27).
As Christians we are on the winning side. We are in and following the all-powerful One. We cannot be moved away from Him by any other (Rom 8:37-37). His law and will are supreme and abide forever (1 Peter 1:25). He does not change (Heb. 13:8). There is no other gospel (Gal 1: 6-8).
As we consider the greatness of our risen Lord let us resolve to remain steadfast. Our labor will not be in vain (1 Cor. 15:58).
