Proverbs 24:14 tells us that to know the wisdom of God brings both reward and the realization of our hope (that which is longed for). Verse 13 speaks of this knowledge of wisdom as honey and honeycomb which is good and sweet.
In Psalms 19:10 and 119:103 the judgements (verdicts or divine law) and the Word of God are described as sweeter than honey and honeycomb. The word of God is something to be desired.
How do we view Gods Word? Do we view it as we would something that is sweet or desirable to the taste? When was the last time we had to be reminded to taste something that was sweet? This word is not only pleasant, but it is good for us both in this life and in the life to come (1 Tim. 4:8). One of the things that we often fail to consider is that God only instructs us to do those things that are good for us. God’s Word is not a burden but a burden lifter.
Are we tasting the honey? Are we receiving the nourishment of the honeycomb? It will surely lead us to the realization of our hope (Col. 1:4-5).
