The Scripture reveals that God is faithful (1 Cor. 1:9; 1 Cor. 10:19).  Therefore we know that God is trustworthy, sure and true.  This is a characteristic of God that reminds me of my earthly father.

My Dad was faithful to his parents and his grandparents, in whom the faith first dwelt (Eph. 6:2; 2 Tim. 1:15).  He was faithful to his wife (my mother) and loved her fully until the day of her passing (Eph. 5:25).  He is faithful to his family, always valuing our company and interaction while training us in the way we should go (Psalms 127:4-5; Deut. 6:7; Eph. 6:4).  My father recognizes that it is the Lord who builds the house (Psalms 127:1).

My Dad is faithful to God for he realizes that everything in life rests upon this conviction (Matt 22:26-40).  He served as an elder in the Church for 45 years before resigning upon the death of my mother.   I have seen him oversee the flock with compassion and without partiality (Acts 20:28; Jas. 3:17).  He never lets error go unchallenged or the truth undefended (Jude 1:3; Phil. 1:17).

Are we faithful, trustworthy and true?  We should be (Rev. 2:10).
